iPhone Air 2 Could Be 0.4mm Thinner While Gaining a Larger Battery

An alleged leak says Apple’s next iPhone Air will be around 0.4mm thinner than the 2025 model while carrying a higher-capacity battery, potentially making the device even more compact.

The claim comes from an account named ‘yeux1122’ on a Korean blog and states the original iPhone Air is 5.6mm thick, so a 0.4mm reduction would put the successor at roughly 5.2mm — about 7 percent thinner. If accurate, the iPhone Air 2 would match the thickness of the new iPhone Duo when unfolded.

iPhone Air size and battery

A separate rumor has said the second-generation iPhone Air will include a 3,500mAh battery, up from the current model’s 3,149mAh, indicating an 11 percent increase in raw capacity. The leak notes that a larger battery does not necessarily require a bigger phone; Apple may be able to improve internal packaging to fit a higher-capacity cell within a similarly tight chassis.

Camera changes and launch timing

Multiple prior reports have suggested Apple will add a second rear camera to the iPhone Air to address a common criticism of the current model, which has a single rear Wide lens and is less versatile for photography than the iPhone 17. Those reports say Apple would add an Ultra Wide lens to the iPhone Air 2.

The iPhone Air 2 is expected to launch in the first half of 2027, alongside the regular iPhone 18 and a lower-cost iPhone 18e.
