Apple reportedly plans to unveil an all-new Apple home hub as part of its “Welcome home” product launch scheduled for Tuesday, October 13.
The device is expected to be revealed in a press release on the Apple Newsroom website at around 9 a.m. Eastern Time, coinciding with Apple’s private “Welcome home” experience in New York, where invited reporters and creators will likely get hands-on time.
Concept renders based on rumored design details exist, but those images are rough concepts and the device’s actual appearance may differ.
Design and hardware of the Apple home hub
The hub is said to feature a 6-inch square display and will come in a tabletop model with a speaker base and a wall-mounted version. Internally, it reportedly uses an A18 chip or newer intended for Apple Intelligence, with Siri AI expected to be a tentpole feature. The interface is reported to adjust element sizes as a user approaches or moves away.
The product is described as suitable for the kitchen, bedroom and living room and will reportedly support multiple users for families.
Software, apps and naming
A new operating system — potentially called “homeOS” — is expected to offer clock faces, widgets and other platform features. Preinstalled Apple apps said to be available on the new platform include Calendar, Camera, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, Apple News, Reminders, Notes and a new Siri app with Siri AI conversation history. Do not expect third-party apps at launch, as the device reportedly lacks an App Store.
The device has been commonly referred to in rumors as a “HomePad” because it is expected to blend HomePod and iPad features, though Apple may opt for names such as “Apple Home” or “HomeView” based on trademark filings linked to the company.
