Apple has added an “Intelligent Assistant” to Keynote, Numbers and Pages, available in beta for Apple Creator Studio subscribers, and restored the apps to the App Store after a temporary removal.
What the Intelligent Assistant does
The Intelligent Assistant offers different capabilities across the three iWork apps. In Numbers it can build and help generate formulas using natural language, visualize data and generate tables. Pages’ assistant can start a first draft, edit, organize and elevate writing, draft sections, adjust tone, and generate images or shapes from natural-language prompts. In Keynote it can help build and refine slides, add animations, create presenter notes, and generate images and shapes.
For all three apps the assistant can search the web for information on a topic and add it to a document. Apple says it can also guide users through advanced features or make suggestions on what to try.
Availability, Creator Studio and extras
The Intelligent Assistant is offered in beta to Apple Creator Studio subscribers. Creator Studio subscribers also get access to new templates and themes and curated videos in the Content Hub. Keynote, Numbers and Pages remain free apps, with extra capabilities available via the Creator Studio subscription, which is priced at $12.99 per month and works across all of Apple’s creator apps.
Other changes and fixes
All users receive bug fixes and performance improvements in the updates. Keynote additionally includes an Interchange Format for importing and exporting presentations. Though not mentioned in the release notes, the updates also add iPhone Duo support to all three apps.
