Galaxy S27 Pro rumored to take features from other S27 models

Samsung appears set to add a Galaxy S27 Pro to its flagship lineup next year, according to recent leaks that suggest the company may be reallocating features across the S27 family.

Galaxy S27 Pro and the camera shuffle

Early rumors said the Galaxy S27 Pro might feature a 50MP 3x telephoto camera, but more recent information points to a 10MP camera with 3x optical zoom — the same basic 3x solution Samsung already offers on its base, Plus and Ultra flagships. At the same time, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to drop its 3x camera and keep only the 5x telephoto.

That has prompted the suggestion that Samsung could be removing the Ultra’s 3x camera to free up a component for the Pro — “even the most expensive model has to chip in,” according to the line of reasoning in the leaks.

What the changes mean for the S27 lineup

The shift isn’t limited to cameras. Another rumor says the Galaxy S27+ could lose UWB support while the Pro and Ultra would retain it. Samsung’s Plus models have included UWB since the Galaxy S21+; removing it from the S27+ would be a downgrade for that model.

A fourth model would give buyers more choice, but the recent reports frame the Pro’s arrival as coming at the expense of features on existing models. Keeping costs down and giving buyers reasons to choose different models makes sense for Samsung, but the leaks raise the odd possibility that adding a new phone could also mean trimming features elsewhere.

A new model should give buyers something to get excited about. It shouldn’t leave everyone else wondering what their next phone might lose to make room for it.
