Omdia’s analysis of the Indian smartphone market for Q3 2026 shows Samsung has reclaimed the country’s largest smartphone brand position, shipping 6.7 million units and securing a 19% market share.
The company had been India’s top smartphone brand until Q1 2024 but lost the lead to Xiaomi in the following quarter; now, after more than two years, Samsung has returned to the top.
Samsung recorded a 1% year-on-year decline in shipments, down from 6.8 million units in Q3 2025. By contrast, other brands logged annual declines ranging from 20% to 34%.
Samsung reclaims top spot
Omdia notes the Indian smartphone market is facing headwinds from rising memory and storage chip prices, which are pushing smartphone prices higher and making consumers more reluctant to upgrade their devices. Despite the slight year-on-year drop, Samsung’s performance was comparatively strong amid steeper declines at rival brands.
