What are the expected upgrades for iOS 26 and new iPhone features?

This week, exciting rumors about Apple’s upcoming products and software updates have emerged. iOS 26 is expected to introduce several new features for AirPods, including auto-pausing when the user falls asleep, the ability to capture iPhone photos using AirPods stems, a new “studio quality” microphone mode, an expanded set of head gestures, and improved shared iPad pairing. These enhancements continue to elevate AirPods from simple accessories to feature-rich devices.

In addition to AirPods updates, iOS 26 will bring improvements to Apple’s built-in apps. Messages will support polls and automatic translation, while the Music app will feature full-screen animated album art on the Lock Screen. Notes will gain the ability to export in Markdown format. Furthermore, a revamped Shortcuts app will offer new actions utilizing Apple Intelligence models.

As for the iPhone 17, the Air model is rumored to receive 12GB of RAM, aligning it with the Pro models, and may feature a 120Hz display, though it might lack ProMotion’s always-on capability. The base iPhone 17 is expected to have a larger 6.3-inch display, matching the size of the 17 Pro.

In macOS news, the new version, macOS 26, is reportedly set to be named ‘macOS Tahoe,’ inspired by Lake Tahoe in California. This continues Apple’s tradition of giving macOS unique branding, even as it aligns its other software platforms with year-based numbering. Enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the new features and updates that Apple will unveil.
