CogInfoCom debuts in Hong Kong as CUHK co-hosts AI conference

The 17th Cognitive Infocommunications Conference (CogInfoCom 2026) was held from 12 to 15 October at Hong Kong Science Park, marking the event’s first appearance in China and the Greater Bay Area. The conference was co-hosted by the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), its Shenzhen Research Institute (SZRI), the InnoHK Centre for Perceptual and Interactive Intelligence (CPII), and Corvinus University of Budapest (CUB).

Launched in 2010, CogInfoCom has previously been held in Europe and Asia; this year’s debut in China was presented as a sign of the region’s growing prominence in AI and cognitive research.

The opening ceremony featured academic and industry leaders from Hong Kong, mainland China and overseas, including CUHK pro-vice-chancellor Anthony Chan Tak-cheung, SZRI director Yam Yeung, CPII director Helen Meng Mei-ling and Péter Baranyi of CUB, alongside other scholars and industry partners. Chan highlighted CUHK’s commitment to interdisciplinary and international collaboration and described the conference as a bridge for global academic and innovation exchange. Yam underscored the importance of hosting the conference in the region and emphasized the event’s role in fostering cooperation in AI and cognitive infocommunications.
