Galaxy Z Fold 8 undercuts iPhone Duo — even 1TB models cost less

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 starts cheaper than Apple’s iPhone Duo in every market compared, and in South Korea and India the 1TB Fold 8 is priced below Apple’s 256GB iPhone Duo. In those markets, the budget for Apple’s entry‑level foldable would buy Samsung’s highest‑storage Fold 8 and still leave money left over.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 vs iPhone Duo: market price gaps

The 256GB Galaxy Z Fold 8 is listed at €1,999 in Germany, France, Spain and the Netherlands. The iPhone Duo starts at €2,299 in Germany and €2,339 in the other three markets, making Apple’s foldable €300–€340 more expensive for the same 256GB capacity (a 15.0–17.0% premium over the Fold 8). In the UK the entry‑level Fold 8 costs £1,699 versus £1,999 for the 256GB iPhone Duo, a £300 difference (17.7%).

In South Korea the Fold 8 is priced at ₩2,278,100 while the iPhone Duo is ₩3,290,000 — a gap of ₩1,011,900, or 44.4% more for Apple. In India the 256GB Fold 8 is ₹179,999 compared with a ₹299,900 iPhone Duo, a ₹119,901 premium for Apple (66.6%). Europe here refers to Germany, France, Spain and the Netherlands; published prices are compared within each market before trade‑ins or promotional savings, and the percentages represent the premium over the Fold 8’s price.

What an iPhone Duo budget buys from Samsung

In markets with larger premiums the comparison shifts to what the iPhone Duo budget would buy from Samsung. In South Korea the 1TB Fold 8 carries a reference price of ₩3,152,600, which is ₩137,400 less than the ₩3,290,000 price of the 256GB iPhone Duo. In India the 1TB Fold 8 costs ₹239,999, leaving ₹59,901 from the ₹299,900 required for Apple’s base model. In the UK the 512GB Fold 8 is listed at £1,869, £130 cheaper than the £1,999 starting price of the 256GB iPhone Duo.

Not everyone needs 1TB, but for users who keep many photos and videos that extra storage has practical value, and it can be chosen without exceeding the budget set for Apple’s entry model.

Design: thinner and lighter

Samsung’s lower price does not come with a bulkier design. The Fold 8 weighs 201g compared with the iPhone Duo’s 254g and measures 9.7mm when folded versus 11.3mm for Apple’s phone. Both devices offer a 7.6‑inch inner display, so the weight and thickness differences do not require accepting a smaller main screen.
