Apple introduced the HomePod mini 2 today, but the full-sized HomePod was not updated — yet the alt text for the full-sized HomePod image at the bottom of the HomePod order page now mentions a “multi-colored Siri AI glow on top,” suggesting the larger speaker might eventually gain Siri AI.
HomePod clue on Apple’s site
The alt text reference could indicate an upcoming software or hardware change, or it could simply be an error by Apple. The change on the order page is the primary hint that the full-sized HomePod might receive Siri AI support in the future.
The new HomePod mini 2 will feature Siri AI, but not immediately: support is set to arrive in a “future software update,” and Apple did not provide a timeframe for that update. Siri AI on the HomePod mini 2 will require a paired iPhone or iPad model that supports Apple Intelligence for requests that involve a user’s personal context.
Reporter Mark Gurman previously reported that Apple planned to update the full-sized HomePod “eventually.” It remains possible that Siri AI support could be limited to a new model of the speaker, and Apple’s plans for the full-sized HomePod are currently unknown.
