Apple has paused development of a camera-equipped AI wearable — an AirTag-sized AI pin that could be attached to clothing or worn around the neck. The device was designed to relay visual information to Siri and offer Visual Intelligence features.
AI pin prototype and capabilities
The prototype was described as a thin, circular disc similar in size to an AirTag, constructed from aluminum and glass and featuring a physical control button on the side. A camera on the device would transmit information about the wearer’s surroundings to Siri, enabling the assistant to answer questions about where the wearer is located or what the wearer is looking at.
Timing and other wearables
Earlier rumours suggested Apple could introduce the AI wearable as soon as 2027, but with development postponed that timeline now appears unlikely. Apple is continuing work on several other wearables, including a screen-free fitness band, AI smart glasses, and AirPods with cameras.
