Are Five HG-1 EVO Heated Gloves Worth Your Investment?

As the summer heat lingers, it’s wise to prepare for the cold riding conditions of winter. For motorcyclists seeking extra warmth in their gear, the Five HG-1 EVO heated gloves could be an excellent choice.

Last winter’s harsh conditions proved these gloves to be invaluable. Initially skeptical about heated gloves, I questioned why one wouldn’t just opt for heated grips. However, the Five HG-1 EVO gloves have changed my perspective. Designed to complement heated grips, these gloves ensure warmth for the most exposed parts of your hands, such as the top and fingertips.

The technology does result in a thicker glove, which requires some adjustment. Compared to Five’s WFX-1 EVO WP gloves, the HG-1 EVO is bulkier and takes time to break in. Once they do, they embody the quality and design Five Gloves is known for, featuring top-notch fit and materials.

Powered by two lithium batteries, one in each glove, a full charge lasts about two hours on the highest setting in near-zero temperatures. Medium heat extends to nearly four hours, while low heat claims six hours, though it was rarely used in extreme cold. A practical approach was starting on high and reducing the heat as the day warmed.

The gloves met our needs well, with the main challenge being to remember charging the batteries overnight. They are user-friendly, with a button on each glove to adjust power settings. An optional cable allows charging one glove while taking a break.

After experiencing warm fingers throughout winter, we highly recommend heated gloves. Keeping hands warm significantly enhances the riding experience. Available in sizes XS to 4XL, the Five HG-1 EVO heated gloves are priced at $399.95 and are available at leading motorcycle accessory retailers. More details and specifications are available on the Five Gloves website.

Pros include excellent fit and materials, offering an effective solution for warm hands. The downside is the thicker profile, which requires some adjustment and time to feel comfortable.
