Are U.S. SMBs turning to technology for growth and efficiency?

Small and midsize businesses (SMBs) in the U.S. are increasingly investing in technology to enhance customer experience, worker productivity, and innovation. This trend, highlighted in recent research, shows a significant alignment between business goals and tech spending, with 65% of SMBs identifying technology as a key factor in achieving their objectives. AI adoption is on the rise, with over 60% of SMBs reporting increased spending in this area for 2025. However, cybersecurity remains a lower priority, with only 40% of businesses focusing on it as a strategic area. SMBs, which make up 99% of U.S. businesses and employ 45% of the workforce, are set to spend significantly on technology, with budgets ranging from $25,000 to $1 million. AI is viewed as the most impactful emerging technology for the next two years. As SMBs and their IT service partners enter a new era of technology leadership, they are working together to improve security, scale operations, and leverage AI for better customer experiences and innovation.
