Apple continues to enhance iOS with each update, introducing numerous features that simplify the daily use of iPhones, yet many remain unnoticed. Among these are several settings that can transform how users interact with their devices. The Photos app, for instance, includes a “Clean Up” feature introduced in iOS 18, initially designed to remove unwanted objects from images. This tool also allows users to blur or pixelate sensitive information such as faces, license plates, and bank card numbers.
Another useful feature is the ability to change how incoming calls are displayed. Previously, calls would take over the entire screen, but now users can opt for a compact banner that allows them to continue using their device without interruption. Additionally, the default setting that links the physical volume buttons to both media sound and ringer volume can be adjusted. Users can disable the option to change the ringer volume with these buttons, ensuring they only control media playback volume.
For podcast enthusiasts, the Podcasts app has introduced a feature that allows sharing a specific moment from an episode, rather than the entire episode. Users can select a line from the transcript and share it, directing recipients to that exact moment in the podcast.
Apple’s continuous updates often introduce features that remain hidden or unexplained, leading to a significant portion of the iPhone’s capabilities going unused. The features highlighted here are just a glimpse of what Apple smartphones can do, as the company keeps expanding its offerings with each system update.
