Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip phones are renowned for their versatile cover displays, allowing users to engage with widgets, apps, and even manage calls without opening the device. The Galaxy Z Flip 7, in particular, boasts a cover screen that nearly spans the entire front when closed. However, handling calls via this display has posed privacy challenges due to the absence of an earpiece, resulting in calls being played through the speakers. This can be inconvenient in public or quiet settings.
With the introduction of One UI 8.5, Samsung addresses this concern by integrating a Low Volume button on the call screen. This feature allows users to instantly reduce the call volume to its minimum, enhancing privacy without the need to adjust the volume manually. The phone retains this low-volume setting, eliminating the need for repeated adjustments. While this feature was tested on the Flip 7 with an early version of One UI 8.5, it remains uncertain if older Flip models will receive the update, despite no technical barriers to its implementation.
