Has a Sofia University student become the first Bulgarian to co-author a paper at a top AI conference?

Aleksandar Yanev, a third-year student at Sofia University, has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Bulgarian student to co-author a paper accepted at the prestigious Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), held this year in Denver, Colorado. Yanev, who is part of the Explorer program at the Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology (INSAIT), has previously excelled in international informatics competitions. His research at INSAIT focuses on developing next-generation AI systems for robotics, with the paper SPEAR-1 marking a notable advancement in this field. INSAIT, affiliated with Sofia University and established in collaboration with Switzerland’s ETH Zurich and EPFL, aims to foster world-class research and nurture future leaders in technology.
