Has Coupang’s Data Breach Led to a Drop in Daily Users?

Seoul: Coupang has experienced a decline in its daily active users, now at approximately 14 million, following the revelation of a significant data breach last month. The e-commerce giant’s daily user count, previously at 14.88 million, has seen a notable decrease, marking the first instance of falling into the 14 million range since late October. This drop occurred despite a temporary surge in users accessing the platform to check security settings after the breach was disclosed. The breach, which exposed the personal information of 33.7 million customer accounts, has affected nearly two-thirds of South Korea’s population. In response, the ruling Democratic Party plans to conduct a joint parliamentary hearing to address the incident.
