A new AI tool has been introduced in New Zealand to help homeowners and businesses identify potential risks when dealing with builders and renovation companies. Developed by entrepreneur Anubhav Verma, CheckMyBuilder aims to prevent financial loss and disruption by providing plain-English risk reports for a fee. The tool evaluates builders and companies for links to insolvency, fraud, and other issues by consolidating data from public sources like court records and company registers. Over 1,000 users have already utilized CheckMyBuilder to make informed decisions before signing contracts or releasing funds. Verma’s motivation stems from personal experience and a desire to protect the community from financial and emotional distress. An enterprise version, Checkbase, is also available for trade suppliers and businesses offering credit, helping them avoid bad debt and manage risks. Both tools have generated significant interest, highlighting a demand for accessible due diligence solutions in the sector.
