Shifters, a company specializing in AI-driven autonomous robotic teams, has successfully raised $10.2 million in a Seed funding round. This investment round was spearheaded by Ace Capital Partners, with contributions from Aurelius Capital Management, Corner Ventures, Arkin Capital, and Fresh Fund, bringing the company’s total funding to $15 million since its founding in 2023.
Led by CEO Ofer Ballin and CTO Assaf Chaprak, Shifters aims to develop cost-effective autonomous ground platforms designed for challenging terrains. These systems utilize the Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA), allowing for versatile payloads, ranging from cameras and scanners to potential future armed configurations.
The founders highlight the pressing need for such technology, noting advancements in drone technology but emphasizing the ongoing risk to human personnel in unstable environments. Their systems are designed to enhance safety by performing preliminary scanning operations, thereby reducing risk to human forces.
As the global security landscape evolves, Shifters positions itself at the intersection of commercial and geopolitical shifts, with a mission to save lives and create positive impacts. The company is transitioning from development to commercial deployment, with existing defense and national security contracts, including collaborations with the Ministry of Defense and the Israel Defense Forces. The robots are currently remotely controlled, but the company is working towards full autonomy, enabling the systems to independently navigate obstacles and reach their destinations.
