How Can ARRL Members Find the Right Rig?

The National Association for Amateur Radio has launched a new tool for its members: the QST Product Review Comparison Database. This online resource simplifies the process of comparing amateur radio equipment, such as transceivers, receivers, amplifiers, and transmitters. Members can sort and filter products based on their preferences, making it easier to evaluate and choose the right equipment.

According to ARRL Laboratory Manager George Spatta, the tool offers a user-friendly experience similar to modern online shopping platforms. The database includes all devices tested by the ARRL Lab since 2012, allowing users to apply filters and sort by various specifications and performance metrics. Multiple products can be compared side by side, aiding in informed decision-making.

The database is versatile, offering sorting options by publication date or alphabetically, and columns can be rearranged to suit user needs. A search field is available for those who know the specific device they want to explore. When comparing products, results open in a new tab, allowing users to maintain their place in the main database.

This tool is valuable for both first-time buyers and those looking to upgrade their current stations. A companion guide will also be available to help users understand the technical data. Members can access this feature by logging into the ARRL website. Membership also provides access to a comprehensive archive of product reviews and technical support services.
