Samsung’s televisions are renowned for their top-tier picture quality, sleek design, and innovative software features, maintaining their status as the leading global TV brand for nearly two decades. Yet, there remains room for improvement, particularly with the Tizen OS, to unlock their full potential.
Firstly, the storage capacity of Samsung’s TVs is a significant limitation. Even high-end models are equipped with just 4GB of internal storage, insufficient for modern applications. Increasing the baseline to 16GB would allow for more app installations and offline content storage. Premium models, especially those over $1,000, should offer enhanced RAM and 64GB of storage to ensure smoother operation and long-term performance.
Another area for improvement is the ability to play music in the background. Currently, Samsung TVs pause music streaming when navigating away from the app, a feature that feels outdated compared to competitors like Google TV and tvOS. Enabling background audio playback would enhance the user experience, allowing seamless browsing while listening to music.
Additionally, the automatic video resume feature can be disruptive. Samsung TVs tend to resume the last used video source even when accessing the Settings menu, leading to unwanted noise. Providing a simple option to disable this autoplay would give users more control.
Lastly, Samsung could enhance its Ambient Mode by incorporating 4K HDR screensaver videos. Currently, screensavers are in standard dynamic range and cannot be downloaded for offline use. Offering a selection of 4K HDR videos, such as nature scenes or cityscapes, would better showcase the TV’s capabilities and enhance its aesthetic appeal as part of home decor.
