How did Radiant Nuclear secure over $300 million in funding?

Radiant Nuclear, a company specializing in portable nuclear microreactors, has successfully raised over $300 million in a new funding round. The investment, led by Draper Associates and Boost VC, aims to support the commercialization and scaling of Radiant’s operations, including the construction of its R-50 factory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. This funding follows a $165 million Series C round earlier in the year. Radiant’s microreactors are designed to provide reliable power for various applications, including defense and disaster response. The company plans to deliver its first microreactor by 2028 and has secured contracts with the US Air Force and Equinix. Radiant’s advancements include regulatory approvals and a selection for the U.S. Department of Energy’s testing at the Idaho National Laboratory. The firm is also the first to sign a contract with the DOE for HALEU fuel. This funding round and strategic partnerships position Radiant at the forefront of the microreactor industry.
