The AI4X conference, initiated in early 2024, emerged from the growing focus on the “AI for Science” initiative aimed at developing AI tools applicable across various scientific fields. The event brought together experts from disciplines such as climate, environment, medicine, and finance, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. Professor Novoselov emphasized the value of cross-disciplinary learning, while Professor Weinan E highlighted AI’s potential to streamline research processes and tackle complex problems like the “curse of dimensionality.” Dr. Nikita Kazeev showcased advancements in materials science with the “Wyckoff Transformer,” a model for designing symmetrical crystal structures. The conference underscored AI’s transformative role in science, with plans to make AI4X an annual event, enhancing global collaboration and industry involvement. The next conference is set for 2026 in partnership with the University of Toronto’s Acceleration Consortium.
