How is Bouches-du-Rhône Preparing for the Heatwave?

The Bouches-du-Rhône region is mobilizing in response to the heatwave affecting southern France, with temperatures reaching up to 40°C and a high risk of wildfires. Four departments, including Bouches-du-Rhône, are under orange alert, and the heatwave is expected to intensify over the weekend. To prevent fires, the prefecture has closed 14 forested areas and restricted activities in other zones. Firefighters are on high alert and ready to respond swiftly. In Marseille, swimming pools are open to the public free of charge, and air-conditioned spaces are available for public use. The CCAS is closely monitoring vulnerable individuals, and cooling routes are accessible to help residents stay refreshed. The situation could worsen, with nine additional departments under orange alert starting Saturday. Authorities are reminding the public of the necessary precautions to protect themselves from the harmful effects of the heat.
