Janta Power, an innovative energy technology company founded in 2021 by Mohammed Njie and based in Dallas, Texas, has successfully raised $5.5 million in a seed funding round. The financing, led by MaC Venture Capital with participation from Collab Capital, aims to expedite the deployment of Janta’s groundbreaking 3D solar tower. This advanced technology is tailored for industrial, commercial, and utility-scale uses, including data centers, electric vehicle charging networks, and essential sectors such as healthcare and agriculture.
Mohammed Njie, who grew up in The Gambia, was motivated by the challenges of unreliable electricity and pursued electrical engineering to devise a scalable solution for delivering power in resource-limited areas. Njie emphasizes that energy has the power to transform lives and his 3D solar towers are designed to deliver significant power in a compact form, marking a new era for sustainable energy.
The innovative towers generate up to three times more power per acre and 50% more daily energy compared to traditional flat-panel arrays. Janta Power has also been recognized as the Sustainable Aviation winner in the Airports for Innovation program, collaborating with major airports like Munich Airport, Aena, and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to pilot its solar technology in airport operations. The vertical design of the towers reduces land use, installation time, and maintenance complexity while significantly enhancing energy output.
Additionally, the seed funding will facilitate the expansion of Janta’s team, including key positions such as VP of sales, supply chain leader, senior mechanical engineer, and software engineer. With the rapid growth of AI exerting pressure on the U.S. energy grid, Janta’s efficient solar towers offer a viable solution, potentially reshaping entire industries.
