How is Samsung showcasing the durability of foldable OLED displays?

At CES 2026, Samsung is demonstrating the enhanced durability of its foldable OLED panels by subjecting them to rigorous tests, including having basketballs hurled at them. These panels, integral to Samsung’s Galaxy Z foldable devices, are now more robust than ever. The “Robot Basketball” zone at Samsung Display’s exhibit features 18 foldable OLED panels, each mounted on a basketball backboard, enduring repeated hits from a robotic arm. Additional tests involve dropping steel balls from 30 centimeters to compare their resilience against competitors, with Samsung’s panels showing no structural damage or image distortion. In another innovative demonstration, Samsung highlights the performance of its automotive OLED displays by placing them inside a refrigerator, proving they maintain a swift response time of 0.2 milliseconds even at temperatures as low as -20°C, equivalent to their performance at room temperature.
