Four out of five premium taxi services in Hong Kong struggled to meet the demand for ride requests within a 30-minute window in the city center. During a weekday morning test in Tsim Sha Tsui, only SynCab successfully confirmed a ride after an 11-minute wait. The other four services either did not respond or repeatedly canceled orders. In contrast, traditional taxis and Uber were able to provide rides in under a minute and at a lower cost than SynCab. The recent introduction of these premium fleets aims to address ongoing issues with taxi services and enhance electronic payment options. However, the test revealed significant challenges in promptly dispatching vehicles.
