Is Apple Introducing Sleep Apnea Alerts and Hearing Tests in India?

Apple has introduced two new features for its devices in India: sleep apnea alerts for the Apple Watch and a Hearing Test feature for the AirPods Pro. Sleep apnea, a condition marked by intermittent breathing during sleep, can now be monitored by the Apple Watch, which uses its accelerometer to detect subtle wrist movements linked to irregular breathing patterns. The feature, compatible with Apple Watch Series 9 through 11 and Ultra models, is available in over 150 countries. Users must wear the watch consistently for several nights to receive initial readings, with data logged in the Health app on their iPhone.

For hearing assessments, the AirPods Pro 2 and 3 can be connected to an iPhone with iOS 18.1 or later, or an iPad with iPadOS 18.1 or later. The test replicates professional hearing assessments, playing tones at various frequencies and volumes in each ear, with users tapping the iPhone’s display upon hearing a sound. The test evaluates frequencies of 500Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz, and 4kHz, with results indicating levels of hearing loss from mild to profound. Results are stored in the Health app and can be shared with healthcare providers.

Apple’s health features are now accessible in over 160 countries and regions, reflecting the company’s ongoing global expansion. Recent updates include the Hearing Aid feature in Italy and hypertension notifications in Taiwan.
