Ghana is set to host the inaugural Africa Artificial Intelligence Conference from November 5-6, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre. Organized by the Africa Education Trust Fund, the event will explore AI’s potential to drive digital transformation across the continent. With the theme “AI for Africa: Unlocking Opportunities for Education, Innovation, and Sustainable Development,” the conference will bring together policymakers, technologists, educators, and entrepreneurs to discuss AI’s role in Africa’s socio-economic growth.
Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah, Chairman of the organizing body, highlighted the crucial nature of AI for Africa’s future, emphasizing the need for the continent to master this technology to avoid being left behind. The two-day conference will cover topics such as AI’s integration into national digital strategies, cybersecurity, ethical AI policies, and fostering tech ecosystems. It will also showcase AI solutions in sectors like education, agriculture, and public services.
Judson Wendle Addy, a Senior Advisor at the organizing body, noted Ghana’s transition from a digital bystander to a key player, with significant investments in AI and ICT. He stressed the importance of building education systems that cater to Africa’s needs and urged institutions and businesses to embrace AI for enhanced efficiency and competitiveness.
The event marks a pivotal moment for Africa to define its role in the AI era, aiming to ensure the technology becomes a means of empowerment. By hosting this conference, Ghana is positioning itself as a central hub for AI dialogue and innovation, underscoring its commitment to leveraging artificial intelligence for sustainable development.
