Is Microsoft Edge adopting a Copilot-inspired design?

Microsoft is gearing up to unveil a significant redesign of its Edge browser, incorporating elements from its Copilot app. The redesign has begun rolling out in early test versions, showcasing a settings section, context menus, and a new tab page that mirror the Copilot app’s aesthetics. This update includes rounded corners and the same color schemes and fonts as Copilot. Interestingly, this design integration is not limited to Edge’s Copilot Mode, suggesting that Microsoft may extend this design language to other web properties and possibly Windows in the future. Mustafa Suleyman, Microsoft AI CEO, emphasized that the goal is to evolve Edge rather than create a new AI browser, making the browser feel more AI-focused. The Copilot design, distinct from Microsoft’s usual Fluent design system, emerged after the Inflection AI team joined Microsoft in 2024, closely resembling the Pi AI assistant developed by Inflection AI.
