Samsung has updated its SmartThings app for the iPhone, introducing new features for users with Samsung products or devices linked to the SmartThings ecosystem. These updates are designed to benefit households using both Galaxy and Apple devices.
Users can now create device groups within the SmartThings app, which can be managed and accessed via the SmartThings app on the Apple Watch. This allows Apple Watch users to view their complete SmartThings device list, issue commands, and activate routines directly from their wrist.
Additionally, SmartThings now supports Siri Shortcuts for controlling SmartThings Routines. This enables users to initiate automations using Siri voice commands. Similar to HomeKit automations, users can set up routines such as “Good Morning” to turn on lights, open blinds, and start a coffee machine, or “Leaving Home” to lock doors, switch off lights, and activate a home alarm.
The app, which already featured Live Activities, now allows users to view up to five recently used devices at a glance, including air conditioners, robot vacuums, air purifiers, and dehumidifiers.
The SmartThings app is available for free download from the App Store.
