Is the Galaxy S25 FE Samsung’s top budget smartphone for 2025?

The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE, part of the “Fan Edition” lineup, seeks to offer a premium experience at a more affordable price point. Samsung has maintained its strategy of using previous flagship models as a base, slightly modifying elements like the camera or processor, and offering them at a reduced price. The S25 FE closely resembles its predecessor, the S24 FE, with only minor updates.

The S25 FE stands out with its premium design, featuring a durable aluminum frame and Gorilla Glass Victus Plus. It boasts a large 6.7-inch display, matching the size of more expensive models, and offers a high-quality viewing experience. Despite its size, the phone is slimmer and lighter than the previous model, maintaining excellent build quality with IP68 water and dust resistance. The display refreshes at 120Hz and reaches a brightness of 1,900 nits, though it uses the same screen as the S24 FE.

Powered by the Exynos 2400 processor, the S25 FE delivers solid performance, suitable for most users except heavy gamers. It features an upgraded 4,900 mAh battery, providing improved battery life and supporting 45W fast charging. The phone also upgrades Bluetooth to version 5.4.

The camera setup remains unchanged from the S24 FE, with a 50MP main lens, 12MP ultrawide, and 8MP telephoto. While daytime photos are impressive, low-light and zoomed images show reduced sharpness. However, the selfie camera now matches Samsung’s flagship models with a 12MP sensor.

Running Android 16 with Samsung’s One UI 8.0, the S25 FE offers a polished user experience. Samsung promises seven years of software updates, enhancing its appeal. The device supports Samsung’s AI features, although Hebrew language support is lacking.

Priced at approximately 2,550 shekels in Israel, the S25 FE offers a premium design, excellent screen, and long-term support at a competitive price. However, it faces stiff competition from models like Xiaomi’s Poco F7 Ultra and 15T Pro, and OnePlus’s 12R, which offer comparable or superior features at similar prices. Even Samsung’s own Galaxy S24 Plus presents a viable alternative with better camera quality.
