WhatsApp is currently experimenting with a feature that permits iPhone users to manage two distinct accounts within the same application. This new addition, observed in the latest iOS beta, introduces an “Account List” in the settings menu. Users can effortlessly add a second account without resorting to WhatsApp Business or any complex workarounds. The beta supports up to two accounts, which can be either new numbers or existing accounts from WhatsApp Business or other devices, and can be linked via QR code scanning. Each account retains its own chat history, backup settings, notifications, and privacy options. To switch accounts, users can utilize the Account List, press and hold the Settings tab for quick access, or double-tap the Settings tab for automatic switching. Notifications clearly indicate both the sender’s name and the account that received the message. The feature also integrates with App Lock, requiring Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode for added security when switching to protected accounts. While WhatsApp has not announced a public release date, the ongoing testing phase suggests it might be available soon.
