On-device deepfake detection: Samsung, Reality Defender partner

Samsung Electronics Singapore has partnered with New York-based AI detection company Reality Defender to develop and deploy on-device deepfake detection solutions for enterprise customers in Singapore.

On-device deepfake detection for enterprises

The initiative, developed alongside the Samsung Knox team, aims to help organizations identify AI-generated voice, video and images directly on Galaxy devices before any data reaches the cloud, reducing the risk of AI-driven fraud.

The enterprise-focused solutions will be deployed on the Galaxy S26 series and later models, as well as the latest Galaxy Tabs. No other technical details were revealed.

This work is not being marketed as a consumer product and is unlikely to affect the Galaxy phone experience for individual users; Samsung has not said whether similar on-device detection will be offered for consumer Galaxy phones and tablets.

Context and reported impact

Industry critics argue that AI companies are not doing enough to prevent confusion between human-made and AI-generated content, and both consumers and businesses face a rising number of deepfakes.

Citing a 2024 survey, Samsung said 56% of businesses in Singapore have been exposed to AI-generated audio fraud attempts, while 52% have encountered video deepfakes. In 2025, AI scam victims in Singapore reportedly lost roughly S$242 million ($188 million).
