Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra review — the first Ultra foldable

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is the company’s first Ultra‑branded foldable and, according to the review, its most complete Fold yet: it brings a larger battery, faster wired charging, a flatter inner display with a much reduced crease and brighter screens, while still omitting some expected Ultra features.

Design and build

The Fold 8 Ultra keeps the thin‑foldable formula: it measures about 4.1mm unfolded (the Fold 7 was measured at 4.18mm unfolded) and remains a relatively heavy device. Internals and hinge technology are where the changes matter: Samsung’s new Flex Titanium hinge flattens the inner display, making the center feel closer to a standard non‑folding panel and reducing the visible crease. The frame is less flat than before, which improves grip when unfolding, though the phone still wobbles on a desk because of the vertical camera island. The Fold 8 Ultra has IP48 protection and accepts a single physical SIM (the second number must use eSIM).
