Want to test iOS 26 features early?

Apple has unveiled the public beta of iOS 26, offering users the chance to explore new iPhone features before the official release later this year. To participate, users must register their Apple ID via Apple’s beta software portal. Once registered, those using iOS 16.4 or later can easily download the beta by navigating to Settings, then General, and selecting Software Updates to choose the public beta. Users not on iOS 16.4 should first update to iOS 18.5 before proceeding with the beta installation. The download requires a WiFi connection due to its size. While installing the beta won’t erase apps or files, it’s advisable not to use it on a primary device as it may have stability issues and affect battery life. If needed, users can revert to an earlier iOS version, though this involves wiping the phone, so a backup is essential. Announced last month, iOS 26 introduces features like a “Liquid Glass” redesign, live translation in Messages, FaceTime, and the Phone app, call screening, enhanced visual intelligence, and a new Games app. Most devices supporting iOS 18 can upgrade to iOS 26, except for the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR. The final version is expected in September, coinciding with new iPhone releases. Additionally, public betas for iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS are available, though visionOS is not included.
