Was Samsung’s Korean office raided over insider trading allegations?

Prosecutors have reportedly raided the Samsung Electronics office in South Korea amid allegations of insider trading involving employees from a robotics firm acquired by Samsung last year. The firm, Rainbow Robotics, was acquired in 2025, and accusations have surfaced that its employees used privileged information regarding the acquisition to secure illicit profits, contravening South Korea’s Capital Markets Act. Investigators from the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors Office conducted a search-and-seizure operation to collect relevant evidence. The financial authorities have identified 16 individuals in connection with the case, including Rainbow Robotics’ head and CFO, who allegedly gained between KRW 3 to 4 billion (~$1.9 to 2.6 million) using insider information from 2022 to 2024.
