Apple has unveiled iOS 26.1 developer beta 4, introducing significant customization features that enhance user control over the interface. Responding to user feedback from previous beta versions, this update addresses concerns with the Liquid Glass design. A key feature is the new transparency control in Display & Brightness settings, allowing users to switch between Clear and Tinted modes for varying opacity and contrast across the system, impacting both native and third-party apps, as well as Lock Screen notifications. This consistency extends to iPadOS 26.1 and macOS Tahoe 26.1 beta 4, reflecting Apple’s commitment to quality across devices.
Additionally, iPhone users can now disable the Lock Screen swipe-to-camera action via a toggle in Settings > Camera, preventing accidental camera activations. The camera remains accessible through other means, such as the Control Center and the Action button on newer iPhone models.
Other updates include the rebranding of the Apple TV service, dropping “plus” from its name, and the expansion of Apple Intelligence support to eight more languages, including Chinese Traditional and Portuguese. AirPods Live Translation now supports Chinese Mandarin, Italian, Japanese, and Korean. The full release of iOS 26.1 is expected soon, bringing these enhancements to all users.
