What features can we expect from Apple’s 20th anniversary iPhone?

As Apple’s 20th iPhone anniversary approaches, speculation is rife about the features of the 2027 model. The company is reportedly working on a bezel-free design with a curved display that wraps around the edges, creating a seamless glass-like appearance. This design could challenge the durability of cases, but Apple’s advancements in materials, like the Ceramic Shield 2, aim to enhance resilience.

Another anticipated feature is under-display Face ID and camera technology, although opinions differ on its feasibility by 2027. Improvements in OLED technology are expected, with brighter, thinner panels that offer better energy efficiency and enhanced anti-reflective properties.

Camera upgrades could include a custom HDR sensor for superior dynamic range, capturing intricate details in both bright and dark areas. Additionally, Apple is developing its own modem chips, promising better performance and efficiency than current Qualcomm models.

The A-series chips might transition to a second-generation 2-nanometer process, boosting speed and efficiency. Notably, Apple may skip the iPhone 19, jumping directly to the iPhone 20 or a special anniversary edition.

The much-anticipated foldable iPhone might also debut in 2027, aligning with the anniversary. While the original iPhone was launched in June 2007, the 20th anniversary model is expected to follow the traditional September release schedule.
