The Moscow Startup Summit, hosted on October 1-2, brought together global startups to present cutting-edge technologies. The event, organized by Sber and the Moscow government, included over 60 sessions featuring insights from more than 150 experts worldwide. The summit focused on five key areas, discussing global tech trends and the influence of generative AI on innovation-driven businesses. The importance of collaborating with BRICS and SCO countries to promote tech startups was emphasized by Russia’s Prime Minister, Mikhail Mishustin.
Key discussions involved Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and Sberbank CEO Herman Gref, who highlighted the role of new technologies in job creation and attracting talent by enhancing living conditions. Gref noted Moscow’s improved urban environment, expanded subway system, and transportation infrastructure, which encourage young professionals to stay in Russia and explore startup opportunities. Sobyanin stressed Moscow’s conducive environment for high-tech industries, supported by skilled talent pools.
The summit showcased 60 startup booths, with 41 Russian teams and 19 international participants from countries like Brazil, India, and France. The event also featured the Demo Day of the Sber500 international IT accelerator, where startups received investment proposals totaling over 1.2 billion rubles. The accelerator program attracted over 1,900 applications from 42 countries, with finalists demonstrating innovations in biomedicine, industrial robotics, corporate software, and more.
The summit concluded with the Startup Summit Awards, recognizing excellence in innovation across 17 categories, with over 1,700 applications from 79 Russian regions.
