Kausable raises €12M seed round to build a reasoning-first AI that adapts continuously without costly retraining
Kausable has closed a €12 million seed round to advance an AI platform focused on continuous adaptation and causal reasoning — models that can adjust to changing environments without repeated, expensive retraining. The round was led by UVC Partners and Entourage, with follow-on participation from German investors HTGF and Mätch VC, plus angel investors from research and industry including Black Forest Labs, OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Noxtua and the EUESL (ELLIS).
A seed round to fund self-adapting AI
Founded in 2025 by Johannes Haux, Dr. Benjamin Herdeanu and Gregor Ramien, Kausable traces its roots to research at Heidelberg University and the founders’ experience in startups, cybersecurity and finance. After a €1.5M pre-seed, the startup has secured additional capital to accelerate development of models that can generalize and reason in dynamic environments without reliance on heavy retraining cycles.
A “reasoning-first” approach and the TipPFN model
Kausable positions its work around a “reasoning-first” philosophy — prioritizing causal inference and contextual adaptation over brute-force data scaling. The company has already developed TipPFN, a zero-shot forecasting model designed to predict rare, high-impact events in sectors such as healthcare and energy. Kausable says this technical orientation enables more efficient deployments in fast-changing settings.
Answering Europe’s demand for digital sovereignty
The funding comes as Europe pushes for sovereign AI models and critical infrastructure built and supported locally amid growing geopolitical pressures. Investors involved see Kausable as evidence that Europe can finance and nurture cutting-edge AI innovation focused on reasoning and autonomous adaptation.
Targeted industrial use cases
Kausable is targeting industrial domains where environments evolve continuously — robotics, energy and finance among them. The company argues that models capable of self-adaptation could convert many AI solutions from one-off, costly projects into scalable, sustainable systems for industry.
What’s next
Kausable says the new capital will be channeled into a research roadmap centered on causal inference and reasoning, leveraging its academic ties and early results like TipPFN to win customers and industrial partners.
