What should you know about the One UI 8.5 beta?

Samsung’s One UI 8.5, based on Android 16, introduces significant updates, offering enhanced features, greater customization, and a refreshed design for stock apps. This update focuses on privacy, security, and accessibility enhancements, alongside improvements in productivity and Galaxy AI. Initially available in beta for select devices, it allows users to explore new features before the official release, expected in early 2026 with the Galaxy S26 series.

To participate in the beta, users must download the Samsung Members app, register their eligible Galaxy device, and follow the update instructions. It’s crucial to back up important data due to potential beta-related issues.

The beta is currently limited to the Galaxy S25 series, excluding the S25 Edge and S25 FE, and is available in select countries, including Germany, India, Poland, South Korea, the UK, and the USA.

Key features include a fully customizable Quick Panel, improved lock screen options, enhanced productivity tools like Storage Share, and better connectivity with nearby displays. DeX now remembers app positions, while the Clock app features a built-in time zone converter. Additional features include selective screen recording, early reminders, weather-based alarm backgrounds, Bluetooth Auracast, and improved Quick Share suggestions. Galaxy AI offers continuous image generation for easier editing.
