The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is the latest addition to Samsung’s smartwatch lineup, featuring a rotating bezel and a design reminiscent of traditional mechanical watches. It offers significant upgrades over its predecessor, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, including a brighter display, a faster processor, increased storage, and enhanced health and fitness tracking capabilities.
The design of the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic retains the iconic rotating bezel but introduces a Quick Button for customizable app or feature access. The watch is crafted from stainless steel, boasts a MIL-STD-810H-compliant design, and features a Dynamic Lug system. It supports standard 20mm watch straps but is not compatible with standard Galaxy Watch 8 bands. The device has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and is available in Black and White.
The watch is equipped with a 1.34-inch circular Super AMOLED display, smaller than the 47mm variant of its predecessor, but it offers up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness and a 60Hz refresh rate.
Under the hood, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is powered by the 3nm Exynos W1000 processor, with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It includes a range of sensors for comprehensive health monitoring and offers connectivity options such as dual-frequency GPS, 4G LTE, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.
Running on Wear OS 6-based One UI 8 Watch software, the smartwatch promises software updates for up to four years. It includes Bixby and Gemini, along with a variety of customizable watch faces and widgets. Users can also download additional apps and watch faces from the Google Play Store.
The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic’s health and fitness features are extensive, offering metrics like Energy Score, sleep tracking, step counting, and support for over 100 workout types. It can measure various health indicators, including Antioxidant Index, blood pressure, heart rate variability, skin temperature, SpO2, and Vascular Load. It can also detect irregular heart rhythms and snoring, with the latter requiring a paired Galaxy phone nearby during sleep.
