Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Z TriFold, a pioneering smartphone featuring a tri-folding design, marking a significant evolution in its foldable lineup. This innovative device caters to users seeking a larger screen without compromising on portability, transforming into a tablet-sized display when unfolded, yet functioning as a standard smartphone when closed. Designed with productivity in mind, the Galaxy Z TriFold employs an inward-folding mechanism with dual hinges, ensuring the main display remains protected. A unique folding sequence is required, with the left side folding first, followed by the right, which includes the camera module.
Despite its dual hinges, the device maintains a sleek profile, measuring 3.9mm at its thinnest when open, and 12.9mm when closed. Weighing 309g, it balances its 10-inch screen size with advanced durability features, including a reinforced display and an IP48 water resistance rating. However, it does not support Flex Mode, necessitating full folding or unfolding for use, although accessories can enhance its functionality.
The phone boasts a 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display with QXGA+ resolution and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, complemented by a brighter 6.5-inch FHD+ cover screen. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, it includes 16GB of RAM and storage options of 512GB or 1TB. A 5,600mAh battery, split across the device, supports 45W wired and wireless charging, along with reverse charging capabilities.
Camera features include a triple rear setup with a 200MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide, and a 10MP telephoto lens. Dual 10MP selfie cameras are also present. The device runs on Android 16 with One UI 8, offering Samsung DeX for a desktop-like experience directly on the phone.
Initially launched in South Korea, the Galaxy Z TriFold is set for a phased global rollout, with a US release anticipated in early 2026. Priced around $2,500, Samsung provides a special display repair discount to mitigate durability concerns.
