With the release of iOS 27, the iPhone camera has evolved beyond its traditional role, thanks to Apple’s expansion of Visual Intelligence. This new update introduces features that transform the camera into a versatile tool capable of handling unexpected tasks. Among the standout features is the ability to split a restaurant bill directly from a photo, simplifying group meals by calculating each person’s share and facilitating payments via Apple Cash—though this is currently available only in the U.S.
Visual Intelligence has also been integrated into Siri, making it more accessible. Users can now use Siri Mode within the Camera app to analyze objects in real-time, ask follow-up questions, and get detailed information without needing a browser. This enhancement allows for practical daily use, such as deciphering laundry symbols or understanding parking signs.
Moreover, the update streamlines tasks like creating contacts and Wallet passes from photos of business cards or barcodes, and importing schedules into Calendar and Reminders from photographed lists. Visual Intelligence has also been extended to Mac and iPad, providing a seamless experience across devices. This development is set to enhance productivity and convenience for users, making the iPhone camera a powerful tool in everyday life.
