WhatsApp is rolling out several major updates to improve usability across cars, tablets and computers: a fully redesigned CarPlay and Android Auto experience, the ability to create an account directly on iPad, in-chat opening and annotation of PDFs, and the option to share music tracks to your Status. WhatsApp for CarPlay and Android Auto, redesigned
WhatsApp has rebuilt its CarPlay and Android Auto interfaces. The updated in-vehicle experience lets you listen to and reply to messages, place calls, view call history and access favorite contacts — all hands-free from the vehicle’s display. The goal is to reduce distractions and centralize core interactions without leaving the dashboard.
Annotate PDFs directly inside conversations
On WhatsApp Web and Desktop, a new Adobe Acrobat-powered feature lets you open PDF files right in the chat window with no prior download. Users can perform light edits — highlighting, annotations — then send the updated document back through the conversation, simplifying collaborative review and document sharing.
Share music to your Status
You can now share a track you’re listening to on Apple Music or Spotify directly to your WhatsApp Status. Contacts can see what you’re playing without leaving the app, making cultural and social sharing easier within WhatsApp.
Sign up directly on iPad
Responding to a frequent user request since the iPad app launch last year, WhatsApp now allows account creation directly from an iPad without linking a phone, enabling native tablet-first use of the messenger.
