In 2025, despite economic challenges, several Australian startups managed to secure significant investment rounds. Notably, Firmus and Airwallex each raised substantial amounts twice within the year. Firmus, originally a bitcoin mining company, shifted its focus to AI infrastructure, securing a total of $830 million to support its AI data center network. Airwallex, a fintech company, raised a combined $964 million, pushing its valuation to $12 billion as it explored AI integration into financial operations. Other notable raises included Synchron’s $305 million for its brain implant technology, Harrison.ai’s $179 million for healthcare diagnostics, and RayGen’s $127 million for solar and thermal storage technology. These investments reflect a strong interest in AI, healthcare, and renewable energy sectors.
