Gartner has announced its latest Magic Quadrant for Backup and Data Protection, maintaining the same ‘Leader’ lineup as the previous year. The 2026 Leaders include Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, Cohesity, Druva, and Dell, all positioned as top choices for new purchase considerations. Gartner also shared predictions for market evolution, noting that by 2030, 35% of enterprises with external SLA obligations will integrate minimum viable recovery into their incident response plans, a significant increase from current numbers. Additionally, 40% of regulated organizations in regions with data sovereignty mandates will adopt jurisdiction-specific backup architectures to ensure compliance, up from less than 10% today. The quadrant features eleven vendors, with Huawei as a ‘Challenger’ and IBM and HYCU as ‘Visionaries’. Arcserve and Opentext continue as ‘Niche Players’, while Acronis, Bacula Systems, Kaseya, and Synology received honorable mentions.
