The scam involved impersonating Coinbase representatives on platforms like Telegram to trick victims into giving access or approving fraudulent transactions. Unlike technical exploits, this operation relied on psychological manipulation to target users during vulnerable moments. The stolen funds were initially received in XRP and later converted to Bitcoin through instant exchanges to hide transaction trails. The suspect’s lifestyle choices, such as purchasing rare social media usernames and lavish spending, provided digital footprints that aided in tracing the activities. Despite the extensive evidence, legal action remains challenging due to jurisdictional issues and the global distribution of victims.
