Why Was the Sonos App Unavailable on iOS and Mac App Stores?

The Sonos app recently became unavailable for download on iPhone and Mac App Stores due to an unspecified issue. The app vanished around two hours before it was noticed, with its URL yielding a “page not found” message and searches in the App Store returning no results. A red banner on the Sonos status page confirmed the issue and indicated that users might face difficulties downloading or updating the app until it was resolved. The status page also reported a major outage of Sonos Account services, hinting at a possible connection between the problems. Previously, a February report suggested that Sonos was planning a significant update to improve navigation and introduce new features like iPhone Lock Screen controls through Live Activities. These updates were intended to be released gradually over the coming months to restore confidence after a challenging software overhaul in 2024. After several hours, the Sonos app was restored on the App Store, and the status page now indicates that all systems are operational.
