Will China’s AI advancements steal the spotlight at WAIC 2025 in Shanghai?

The World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2025 is set to take place in Shanghai from July 26 to 28, showcasing over 100 new AI products, including large language models (LLMs), AI-powered devices, and intelligent robots. The event highlights China’s growing influence in the global AI sector, with major developers claiming significant improvements and increased adoption of LLMs. Companies like SenseTime and Ant Group will unveil updated AI solutions, while DeepRobotics plans to demonstrate its latest robotics innovations. The conference will feature over 800 companies, with more than half coming from outside Shanghai or overseas. Despite geopolitical challenges, China continues to assert itself as a leading player in AI, with over 4,500 AI companies and 60 percent of the world’s AI patents. The WAIC 2025 aims to promote global collaboration in AI, with participation from over 1,200 officials, industry leaders, and scientists from 30 countries and regions.
